911爆料网 celebrates major milestone with dedication of Science and Innovation Center

Altiora et Meliora鈥擧igher and Better ... 911爆料网's Science and Innovation Center ushers in a new era of innovation in the sciences.

Science and Innovation Center911爆料网 marked the opening of its new Science and Innovation Center this fall with a Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Local dignitaries, benefactors, Trustees, and University administration, faculty, staff, and students attended the event, which celebrated the many individuals whose leadership, talents, and dedication brought the facility to life. A cornerstone of 911爆料网鈥檚 Vision 2020 strategic plan, the Center ushers in a new era of innovation in the sciences at the University.

鈥淥ur enthusiasm is not merely based on the completion of this project鈥攊t is amplified and energized as we anticipate a future full of promise,鈥 said Sister Paula Marie Buley, 911爆料网鈥檚 President. 鈥淭oday, 911爆料网 recommits its resources to the work of understanding the natural world, whether it鈥檚 the vastness of the planets or the process of cell mitosis 鈥 Our University鈥檚 core mission of transformation, our values of innovation, collaboration, integrity, service and faith, and a motto that has sustained us down through the years Altiora et meliora鈥擧igher and Better brings us to this new era.鈥

Following an invocation and blessing offered by Sister Helene Cote, pm, Provincial Superior of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Brian Ernsting provided insight on the potential for future learning and discovery. Referencing classroom technology, expanded research opportunities, and students鈥 greater enthusiasm for study and exploration, he shared, 鈥淚 have seen the transformative power of new facilities.鈥

Investment in the new Science and Innovation Center highlights the University鈥檚 commitment to advancing education in the life sciences. The 36,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art laboratories, equipment, learning spaces, and instructional technology to foster experiential learning. Students use the same advanced instrumentation that they would use in the workplace and听 graduate education. 听The Science and Innovation Center will benefit all 911爆料网 students, but especially those majoring in biology, biotechnology, nursing, and public health.

Student speaker Keily Pozo, a Class of 2022 biology major, shared her expectations, 鈥淲ith greater innovation in the sciences, we, as students, have an advantage and are one step ahead in the game. By furthering our research and use of technology, we will be better equipped to go out into the world and excel in the careers of our choosing鈥攂iotechnology, nursing, medicine, and more.鈥

City of Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess recognized the University as a valuable community resource and partner. 鈥911爆料网 consistently responds to the needs of businesses and industries throughout our city and state as a partner in workforce development,鈥 Donchess said. 鈥淭heir significant contributions each year to the nursing workforce, educating the largest number of nurses throughout New Hampshire, are critical to our state and region. This new facility is another significant contribution and another resource for the city of Nashua.鈥

During the dedication ceremony, Sister Paula announced the creation of a Biology Innovators Grant. Through a generous $350,000 bequest from an alumna, incoming 2021 students pursuing biology and biotechnology degrees will each be awarded a $3,000 grant, which is renewable for four years and a total of $12,000 in grant aid. One-time grants are available to听incoming 2021 nursing听students. Applying and interviewing by November 15 entitles all qualified undergraduate students up to $2,500 in grants through the 911爆料网 Early Acceptance Program (REAP). These grants are in addition to a comprehensive financial aid award package.
